Description:
The Facilities and Maintenance Technician is a critical part of the Conception Nurseries Operations team. This individual is responsible for the maintenance, care, and efficient operation of all equipment, building, and grounds maintenance for Conception’s plant production facility. This individual is responsible for performing routine building maintenance tasks. Includes, but is not limited to, tasks in the areas of building and equipment repairs, painting, carpentry; electrical; heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and plumbing.to ensure the facilities are safe, up to code, and fully operational. This position will report directly to the Facilities and Maintenance Lead.
Responsibilities:
- Works collaboratively with Facilities and Maintenance Manager to ensure all facilities and equipment needs are met.
- Perform routine preventative and predictive maintenance to minimize equipment failure that causes loss of production time.
- Follows all safety rules and procedures as well as all other established company policies outlined by the Employee Handbook
- Performs technical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical troubleshooting and repair of facilities equipment to minimize downtime in a timely manner.
- Ability to read and understand systems diagrams and prints preferred.
- Performs minor electrical maintenance such as replacement or repair of fixtures (wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power, and specialty tools.
- Can read and interpret machinery manuals so that all repairs and maintenance to machinery should be in accordance with prescribed manuals and specifications provided by the original equipment manufacturer.
- Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g., replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, pull and replace toilets and/or flush valves, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices)
- Performs dry wall work, painting, carpentry, and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, repairing doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.)
- Reconfigure, install, position, and remount wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets, to accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hands, power and specialty tools, dollies, and hand trucks.
- Monitor and/or assist with the work of outside contractors.
- Maintains clean working environment.
- Ability to follow work order systems through to completion.
- Support maintenance teams in operational and continuous process improvement
- Maintain excellent communication skills encompassing verbal, written, and listening skills with management and production staff.
- Performs additional duties as requested by management.
Position Qualifications:
- High school graduate
- 3+ years previous experience in facilities/equipment maintenance or related field
- Accurate and precise attention-to-detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Quick thinker able to examine a problem situation and develop solutions in a prompt and professional manner.
- Able to take direction from management and/or fellow employees.

Physical Demands:
This role will require working in advanced plant production facilities including frequent walking and standing in warm and bright environments. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to bend, crawl, sit, talk, move about, hear and speak. May be required to work in restricted spaces and/or under difficult lighting and access conditions. Employees may be exposed to outside weather conditions when transporting materials. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and be able to use appropriate support equipment to lift and move greater amounts.
Other Physical Requirements: This may include work in outdoor environments during inclement weather. High frequency of computer work.
